Clay and Fur Creatures - Kriture

Soft Kritures are the union between clay Kritures and plush. They are totally malleable, and are prepared for children to play or to hang in your car, as they don't break so easily. Each one has a Kriture sewed tag in the back and instead of glued, the clay is sewed into the fabric so it lasts for ever.

The eyes on this one glows in the dark.
Each one is OOAK and have 3.5" (9cm) height, 2.4" (6 cm) weight and is less than 30gr.

Here you have some of the pics, visit the store for more info about this creatures and more pics! :D

365 monsters/Skeletal Dropkick art swap...

So Mr. 365 and I thought maybe we should try an art swap here at the team. So to test it out, we swapped with each other, he painted one of my Ochibos and I made a ceramic zombie brush holder for him. It took a while for each of us to get off our butts and get our work done but the end result is so freaking cool, it was totally worth the wait. Here is the "Stompchibo" he painted for me:

So, Whoever wants to get involved in a trade, send a message to the group message board under the "Art Swap" posting. Get to it!!

Wharjit and Muncher

I would like to introduce those of you who haven't already met to Wharjit and Muncher.

Both were uncovered recently on the banks of a nearby glacial river, but that's pretty much where the similarities end. Wharjit is a docile, long since extinct creature of the alpine tundra, and so far I've had several people insist that Muncher reminds them of their Mother-In-Law. Must be due to her drop dead gorgeous eyes or something....

Monster on the Move

As the days get shorter and there's less gardening to take up my time, I can shift back into monster-making mode. Soon I'll be adding more to my etsy shop but first I wanted to set one monster free in the wild:

prepped_for_toy_society

The Toy Society started in Australia but has spread worldwide -- the idea is to drop the toys where kids (or grownups) will find them and take them home. This monster, Glumpy, will be my first drop but I have also signed up for the worldwide Christmas Toy Drop. Check my Flickr stream to see where Glumpy was dropped and who found her!

NEW member to the MONSTER TEAM - Youneekusername

Hey guys,

Right now there's not a whole lot of monster themed items in my shop but, I hope to change that soon (esp. with Halloween coming up!) Now my shop is dominated by "found object robots" - but I make all kinds of sculptures and art using mixed media. Check out my shop YOUNEEK CREATIONS.

Black Fez Studios at Craft Lake City

On Saturday, August 8th we attended our first show, Craft Lake City in downtown SLC, Utah.
It's the very first alternative craft show in the area, so we figured we were playing to our crowd. The show opened at two p.m. with live Rockabilly acts playing through the day, and the crowd didn't let up until we struck at ten that night. Rachel and I spent the month prior trying to get our goal of 100 monsters ready for the show, and we made it with 103!
The best part? Only 24 came home with us. It was so much more succesful for us than we ever could have hoped, and we have been invited to attend three more shows through the end of the year!

So, now we need to make several hundred more!

All in all, worth every second. I couldn't be happier with this little "project" of ours, and how it has brought our family closer!

You really should go to this. It is amazing, inspiring and fun to see what everyone can make. I will be throwing clay at 11am and again at 4 pm. I will also be showing people how to make a slump mold bowl at 4:30 PM each day. I will be in the Expo Hall (marked on the maker map as "Maker Made Stage"), booth #276. I will be throwing 2 times a day and demo-ing slump molds 1 a day. Yipee! If you can make it, you really should go, the fair is freaking amazing!

Promos to the Spring Handmade Cavalcade

I finished packaging the promos I collected from some members of the Monster Etsy Team and shipped them off to the Spring Handmade Cavalcade.

Some photos of the finished products.

These will be included in the Special Edition (RSVP only) Tote Bags available at the Spring Handmade Cavalcade. I heard a rumor that all 200 are already spoken for. But please RSVP still, there will be some great coupons for you just before the event. And if you just want a tote bag, they'll be available for sale at the event (without the goodies).

Spring Handmade Cavalcade will be at the Bell House in Brooklyn on May 9th & 10th. Hope to see you there!
